To complement the policy framework on the supervision of FinTech in Africa published in March, the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) published the document A Case Study of Ghana exploring ho the Bank of Ghana has adapted its supervisory framework for FinTech activities. We are honoured to have assisted AFI in preparing this case study.

The Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) has just published the document The Supervision of FinTech in the African Region, a regional Policy Framework prepared by ICC. The document reflects the findings of an extensive research on how supervisors in the region have risen up to the challenges brought by innovative financial products and services, and its providers.
August 2022
The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic published on August 10, 2022, the National Financial Inclusion Strategy for the period 2022-2030. The document sets out the actions that will be undertaken to expand access to and use of financial services in the country, with special emphasis on the use of technology and financial education as key instruments for the achievement of its objectives. International Consulting Consortium, Inc. prepared the strategy base document. The final document (in Spanish) can be consulted here.

Our experts led an online workshop with staff at the Financial Authority of Indonesia (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan) on the supervision of rural banks around the world. The event was part of our technical support to OJK.

The Association of Bank Supervisors of the Americas published the report Regulatory Considerations and Supervisory Practices for Financial Technological Innovations which provides regulators with guidelines on how to handle these innovations, known as FinTech. ICC is proud to have assisted ASBA in producing this report as well as the previously published Global Fintech Regulation and Supervision Practices. Additionally, ASBA published the report Consumer Protection in the new Environment of Financial Technological Innovation: Regulatory and Supervisory Considerations, completing the set of documents delving in this area.

Maximir Álvarez participated as a speaker in a virtual conference called by the Association of Supervisors of Banks of the Americas to discuss possible scenarios for the financial systems of the hemisphere as a consequence of measures to mitigate the spread of Covid-19. Our President, Ramón Rosales also attended the event, joining over 60 officials from supervisory agencies from Latin America.

Maximir Alvarez attended the European Microfinance Week in Luxembourg. Among the topics discussed in the yearly gathering of organizations interested in microfinance, was the use of technological innovations to fuster faster and wider financial inclusion, and issue we at ICC are following closely.

Ramón Rosales, President of ICC attended the XXI Annual Assembly and XIII High-Level Meeting of the Association of Supervisors of Banks of the Americas, held in The Bahamas in late October. This year event was particularly focused on FinTech, including solutions for regulators and supervisors (SupTech).
